Ben and Lou here, the proud owners of Mt Stirling Farm & Cottages.
Originally hailing from Brisbane, our journey began in 2020 when we purchased our first cottage in the township of Glen Aplin, before continuing our vision in 2022 and acquiring our 170 acre farm. At the time, the property stood as a testament to its industrial roots, but we envisioned something more, a tranquil haven where guests could immerse themselves in the serene embrace of the countryside.
Over the course of 18 months, we tirelessly commuted from Brisbane every weekend, channeling our energies into restoring The Fettlers Cottage and later, transforming the farm into a place of luxury accommodation and scenic beauty which stands proud today.
In late 2022, we made the life-changing decision to permanently move to the farm to continue the transformation. The farm, cottages and main house are being lovingly restored to offer our guests a captivating blend of country charm and modern comfort.
Alongside us on this journey is our beloved four-legged companion, Imelda, our faithful and friendly farm dog.

History.
Once renowned as "Mt Stirling Olives," the legacy of Mt Stirling Farm & Cottages has woven its mark into the fabric of the local community.
In its prime, Mt Stirling Olives boasted an impressive orchard of over 3,500 olive trees, forming a magnificent olive grove for all to enjoy.
A symbol of our farm's industrious past, the railway goods shed shop still stands tall, once a hub of culinary exploration for visitors. Here, they delighted in a range of delicacies, from extra virgin olive oil and tapenade to preserved olives, fragrant dukkah, dried white figs, locally crafted chutneys and sauces, nourishing olive oil soaps, skincare products, and even olive trees, enabling guests to carry the essence of the farm back to their own homes.
Our cottages embrace the essence of the past, with an undeniable charm that resonates with every visitor. Within each home you will find a rich history, and a harmonious blend of antique and modern furnishings, creating a perfect balance of country elegance and contemporary design.
The Fettlers Cottage, a lovingly restored cottage dating back to the late 1800s, was originally owned by the Queensland Railway, a home for the Fettler family who toiled for the railway's progress. The Nurses Quarters, constructed in the early 1900s, once provided accommodation for nurses at Cleveland Hospital, 20 kilometres southeast of Brisbane. Meanwhile, The Packing Shed, built in the mid-1900s, serves as a proud reminder of the farm's enterprising nature, once the central hub for packaging and preparing the local produce that laid the foundation for the farm's earlier success.

Today, our 170-acre working farm, nestled within the breathtaking Kambuwal Country on the Granite Belt, offers luxury accommodation, both on and off the property, as well off-grid camping for an authentic country experience.
There are two unique cottages, and a third on its way, each with its own unique charm. Impeccably styled and thoughtfully designed, our cottages seamlessly blend country elegance with contemporary flair for a truly relaxing stay.
For those seeking a more immersive connection, our off-grid camping is the perfect option, with five self-contained campsites located on the shores of one of our picturesque watering holes, providing a peaceful escape to reconnect with nature.
Our farm’s convenient location near Stanthorpe, Ballandean, and Tenterfield, offers easy access to local wineries, abundant produce, and the stunning trails of Girraween National Park and Sundown.
If you prefer to stay local, enjoy our granite outcrops and natural bushland as you immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of your surroundings. The Mount Stirling peak is now accessible, after more than half a century, allowing you to embark on invigorating hikes and witness breathtaking sunsets. Unwind with your private outdoor fire beneath a starlit sky, or take in the native fauna in its pristine natural environment.
